Sent and received bytes

Dear sir,

On simply connecting broadband, sent and received bytes keep on increasing by itself till any value and the rate of increase is about 150 bytes/sec without using any internet services.

Similar incident was taking place at one of our neighbours. Finally they disconnected broadband services permanently. Please suggest what to do.

This is happening for last 2-3 months and our telephone bill has shooted up to Rs 1000/- (rupees one thousand) per month.

Is there any possibility if somebody else is also using my connection???

If so, what next to be done???
