I am a resident of CBD-Belapur, Sector-15. I would like to bring to your notice the misuse (private use) of public footpath by many restaurant & bars in the area. Restaurant like Mini Punjab, Ashwith, Mahesh to name some, have hired people who ensure that the footpath is only used as their valet parking area rather than used by pedestrians for walking. During peak business hours of these restaurants, vehicles of their customers are parked up to the last lane of Palm Beach road which leaves pedestrians to walk in the middle lane of the highway.
To my surprise NMMC have actually gone a length ahead to help these restaurants in using the footpath. Recently, in the name of repairing the road NMMC have almost levelled the road and footpath in front of the above said restaurants to make it easier for their customer to park vehicles on the footpath.Co-incidentally only in front of these restaurants gap between road and footpath reduces rest all along the gap is maintained. This is a clear case of blatant corruption that too within such close range of NMMC head office. Please visit the site for proof of my allegation. Are these authorities waiting for few common men to meet with accident and shed blood to wake up? Are our taxes not enough for them to look after public interest?
Being a tax paying citizen of Navi Mumbai, I would like to know how NMMC authority can approve such use of public money against public interest. What are the actions to be taken against the palm greasing restaurant owners, contractor who in the name of repairing the road helped restaurants to use footpath for their benefit and the NMMC authority that has approved this work. NMMC should also ensure the public money spend on the so called repair is bourn by these entities.
If no action is taken against these entities, please do let me know where to appeal for appropriate action to be taken being a co-owner of this city.
