REF; PNR NO: 8134520368
BIRTH NO: 53 IN B2 (IIIRD AC)
Etra fare penalty collected by TC Vide Receipt No: B952A1950 dated 04.10.09
(The responsble railway staff can be identified through this receipt)
Sir,
I have booked an e-ticket on 30.08.2009 for my son Praveen R Rokkam, Age 22, for travelling from Dadar to Kharagpur on Train No: 2869 for the date 04.10.2009.
After boarding on the train, a ticket checker came to the birth and asked for ticket as a routine. My son produced the printout of e-ticket and photo ID issued by the Indian Institute of Technology. My son travelled so many times by the same ID with e-ticket. The Railway did not agree to accept the photo ID of IIT. He demanded Rs.500/- to allow this ID and in alternative he instructed to deposit penalty of Rs. 1950/- or get down at the next station. My son was having only Rs. 300/- with him and he is student and he had to attend a project at IIT on 06.10.09 he suffered from mental agony as to what to do in that situation. In this grave situation, a fellow passenger helped him and lent him Rs.- to deposit the penalty and carryon the jouney. The TC, after collecting the penalty allowed to undertake journey on the same birth as already allotted by the Railway on the e-ticket under reference.
Now my complaint is:
1. On what authority the TC has harassed a student who is carrying valid photo ID card issued by a reputed Engineering Institution of Government of India (IIT). My son has travelled with the same ID card and e-ticket so many times. The same ID card worked for pass port and visa obtention, foreign visits. Even Air-port authorities accepts the same ID card in domestic travels. Such stringent action for the genuine and bonafied passengers by the Railway staff, particularly on students of reputed Government Institutions like IIT, puts great problem to them.
2. On what authority the railway staff asks illegal money from the passengers. Is there no check point by Railways?
3. Now, double collection (Payment through internet charging fresh fare penalty) for the same Birth due to delibate action by the TC is a matter of monetary loss to me in addition to mental agony. The Railway has to compensate for the mental torture made by the TC to son.
4. I made complaint through e-mail to 1. [email protected], 2. [email protected] 3. [email protected] on 04.10.09 but I did not get any reply from them so far.
5. Railway have to refund my money debited to my account while booking e-ticket as TC has collected fresh charge penalty from my son vide above said Receipt.
I request the autheries of ConsumerComplaints.in to take up the matter with Railway authorities.
Thanking you,
Yours faithfully,
Rokkam Kumar Rao
