Waaranty repairs denied on filmsy pretext

I had purchased the captioned phone from Nokia Authorized Priority dealer Praveen Enterprise, 4/5, Gariahat Road, Kolkata 700019 on 13th November. Boy did I make a mistake in choosing the brand I did!!!

First I had problem with the phone within three months. This was apparently sofware malfunction and I had to keep the phone with Nokia Care for about three weeks before it was repaired under warranty and returned to me.

Recently I noticed the poor quality of the instrument itself. The silver strips covering the keys on the keypad started coming off. The first one is lost and the remaining ones were luckily found by me and fixed back with quickfixing glue.

I first went to one Nokia Care franchise located in Hindusthan Park in Kolkata (Infotel services). I was told they will requisition for the part (the facia) and inform me once received.By the way one of the silver strips came off when the phone was in the hands of the lady in the counter. I still await their all.

Meanwhile one of the Nokia Priority dealers near my residence told me that the services of the Nokia Care Fanchise (Arya infotech) in Kalighat area were better. So I went there. I was told that yes this will be taken care of under warranty. I was asked to wait while the phone was opened up and I was shown some vague signs of water ingress and was told that the replacement of the facia will not be covered under warranty. Mind you my phone is still working fine. I refused to pay and brought back the phone which is still working. Anoither reason was that they wanted at least three weeks before the repairs could be carried out and my phone returned to me. It bears to mention here that one more silver strip came off in the hands of the perosn in the counter here).

I again visited Infotel services in Hindusthan Park, who told me that the part has been requisitioned and still awaited from the Head office in Theatre Road. I took the address from them and visited the Nokia office at theatre road. I was told here that they don't deal with customers directly!!! and they gave me a chit of paper which had an address of a franchisee nearby. I did not gpo to this franchisee of Nokia Care (!!!), since I had already visited two of these and the experience cannot be termed satisfactory.

I had also communicated with Nokia care about my problem via e-mail which bore no results whatsoever.

They are trying to get away from their commitments under a very filmsy pretext. I am not at all convinced of their contention of water ingress since the phone is still working fine with a defaced keypad. Even if I agree for arguments sake that there was water ingress, that itself is not acceptable. A phone designed for a hot and humid country like ours should provide for sweating palms which obviously is being blamed for water ingress.

Whenever I visit a Nokia care center, I am given a coupon with a queue number and have to wait for a considerable period before I can speak with people attending to complains. The long queues really does not speak highly of the quality of Nolia products.

The phone I puircvhased for almost 17 thoussand rupees did not last even a year and I have taken a decision to never again purchase a Nokia product. I am spreading the word of my experience with Nokia to every one I know and already they have started shunnin Nokia lika plague.

I am still waiting for a phonecall form Infortel services at Hindusthan Road.
