Sir,
I boarded Punjab Mail (3005) yesterday i.e. 13.06.2010 from Hardoi – UP for Saharanpur - UP. As I did not have reservation, I had bought an ordinary ticket and approached the conductor for a reserved birth. The conductor offered me birth no.7 in S1 coach. However, the conductor did not issue me any receipt on one or other pretext. Finally he got down at Moradabad and handed over the charge to his colleague. He introduced me to the colleague (Mr. Gupta) also, who allowed me to continue to occupy the birth, but he too did not issue any receipt. To my surprise, when the train was around Lasker station, GRP personnel came to me and asked for vacating the seat saying the berth is earmarked for GRP. When I told them that the conductor had allowed me to occupy the birth on payment of charges, GRP personnel told me that the conductor could not have offered this birth being earmarked for GRP. Now I sensed I had been cheated by the conductor while on duty.
I strongly feel that such conductors who are acting like a touts should be taken to task for their misdeeds.
