PALLAVAN TRANSPORT CORPORATION
New seating arrangement for laides in 23C, 27D

A LETTER TO THE CMD, PALLAVAN HOUSE, CHENNAI

At the outset, I would like to appreciate the overall improvement in the public transport system available to the people of Chennai, when compared to other Metros. It is indeed heartening to note the recent changes you have introduced in Route Nos. 27D & 23C. As many of the offices including our United India Head office at Whites Road fall in this route, we the women employees totally rely on these 2 bus services which have been quite frequent and prompt unlike the others. The previous system of seating arrangement for ladies- in the end and the sides, was very much convenient as we used to board the bus from the rear entrance and squeeze into the space available in the last seat which belonged to ladies. Now that it is meant for gents, we are not in a position to move further, move on to the other side, then again cross the gents to get down from the bus.

With the advent of the new system, the same crowd which was manageable last week has become unimaginably irritated, confused with the recent changes. Mainly we the ladies for whom you have made these changes (as per the version of the conductor) find it extremely difficult to commute. Previously it was convenient for us to board, move onto the left side and get down from the same side through the front door. So kindly do away with the new system and restore the old system of seating arrangement to avoid confusion amongst the commuters. Our male counterparts also agree with the old system which has been followed for all these years without any problem. I, request the authorities on behalf of the working women to consider this issue seriously and expedite action.

Thanking you in anticipation,

GEETHA RAVI,

CHENNAI-23.
