I have called up the Airtel Broadband toll free 1-800-103-0121 last to last sunday to book a new connection. The person who answered the call, somehow managed to speak english after putting me on hold for like 10 mins on and off, clarifying with his colleagues and finally gave a request no. The representative then assured me that the connection would be provided at your residence within 4 working days.
I didnt hear from anyone till Friday and hence called up again to enquire about the status; i was told that there is no network connectivity in my area and hence a connection is not possible. when I told them that the DP for Airtel in this area resides in my house and so far only 2 connections has been provided, he changed the topic saying that its pending for field executives to come. Finally a so called Mr. Deepak from Airtel comes home and says, since I dont require a modem, wi-fi router and the cabling also is done, I need to pay only Rs.1000 (god only knows how much other wise it would have been). If I can provide my BSNL bill original copy, then they can provide a Rs.500 discount. Since there was no other go, i sacrificed my original bill valued at Rs.1100 to Airtel guys (re-imbursable from work) and issued a cheque as well for remaining amount.
This guy also assured me that since Sat/Sun they dont work (wat customer service) the connection will be provided by Monday for sure. I like an idiot took a leave and was waiting for these divine people to come.By 6, I called up and asked for status and this guy says tomorrow somebody may come. I told him to cancel my connection and return my money back. Today I see the cheque being cleared from my account and Deepak the executive switching off his cell as well.
