I bought a prepaid connection from Airtel from retailer Oberoi Telecom at Defence Colony Kanpur. It has lifetime validity. The phone number is 9198884443- It was bought on 30 Jun 09 and activated on the same day in the evening. On 01 July 09 I charged the phone with two top ups of Rs 888/- each. I got a confirmation that the recharges were successful. I noticed that no incoming calls were coming so I complained to the retailer who assured me that it would be set right and he would tell the Airtel company about it. He rang up airtel and then told me that the phone details were not coming on their screen/system and something would be done about it by evening. Nothing happened. At night the retailer told me that it takes 24 hours for the problem to be resolved. On 02 Jul I rang up the retailer and he said he will do something about it. I then rang up Airtel Customer complaints 121. They said that they can't do anything as the details are not showing in the system and I will have to contact Lucknow. They gave the the address of their Kanpur Office and said that they did not have a phone number of the Kanpur office. What a bunch of liars!!! This is Sunil Mittal's world class company!!! I fell cheated. The service personnel of Kanpur must be the worst. I am sorry I chose Airtel- just because the retailer told me to. I should have stuck with BSNL or Hutch. Can something be done about it!!
