This is regarding poor construction of roads in the locality of Sivaprakashnagar, Madipakkam, Chennai. All the roads laid in this area are of very poor quality. The roads will stand for only two months hardly after the completion and after two months we can see the condition of the road to the one before laying. Also, they will take very long time of more than two to three months for construction of a single road of less than quarter km. They will dump all the material in between the road for weeks and weeks and blocking the road totally for no use. Contractors are eating money just like anything. For a road of 500 m they are using only 500 cft of rubbish, 500 cft of stone aggregate and two loads arround 200 cft of soil and over that very thin layer of tar. Nobody can expect this type of road construction will stay for any time more than a month. THat too they start laying only in the rainy season, so that there will not be any bonding. So, the contractors can get every year new contract in the name of repair of roads. I have all the photos and the measurements of recently laid a new road first time on our street with this type of quality. I want to contact sarpanch and contractor, no body is available to answer. I wish to send a complaint to the municipal authorities, collector and vigilence cell, so that some action can be expected. I expect the authorities will take proper action against these contractors and see that the roads are being laid as per the contract specifications. Otherwise, they can give a copy of specifications to the residents of the streets and ask the contractor to get the consent and sign from the residents of the street which the road was laid that the road is laid as per contract specifications and to their satisfaction. If like this the involvement of people is taken care, then we can expect the quality improvement in a significant way, they cannot bribe all the residents of the locality. I hope the authorities will repond in a positive way.
