I Own a brand new skoda superb, while on the junction in koregaon park at 21:30 hrs as on 15/12, a zen car filled with 5 boys .. some 21-25 year old students hit and ran my car! i managed to catch hold of them and even managed to pursue them to wait untill i could call the local cops, The local jurisdiction is under Koregaon park and Bund garden police station, i spoke to the police at sharp 21:44 hrs and was waiting on the road next to the famous kalyani nagar bridge for about 20 minutes and called the police station back to hear the cops have just been dispatched to the scene and should arrive in 2 minutes, i waited for more 20 minutes and it was getting difficult to hold the 5 boys any further... i called them back at 22:25 and cops did not arrive at the scene still...
Koregaon park-Klyani nagr bridge is about 250 meters away from a beat police station and very much active all the time.. on all accounts i contacted the telephone number :
020-26123825 and a lady police personnel answered my phone call and assured me for good 2 hours that the police were dispatched and would be there.. but no one appeared... My understanding is that just about few months back there was a bomb blast in this area less than a kilometere away and koregaon park is also one of the areas where all the vip/vvips live, i live in koregaon park for the last 1 year and have seen late night police patrolling and barricades set up to check vehicles but this incident has shaken my faith in the police system that exsists in this area.
As a working class person my safety lies in the hands of the police when i consider my self to co-operate with the local police when required but the police is absent when they need to be there for what basic duties a police force stands in any city!!!
WHO WOULD TAKE ANY ACTION ON THIS SITUATION?
AT LAST I JUST HAD TO LET THE PEOPLE WHO HIT MY CAR GO!.. ITS SAD! ALLL THT I COULD DO IS ARGUE. AND PROTECT MY CAR AND MYSLEF IN FRONT OF 5 DRUNK BOYS! WHO WERE AT THE WRONG AND GOT AWAY SMILING!...
