Drainage issue pending beyond 30years

Sub.: long outstanding issue of rain water clogging and deaf ear offered to our genuine needs

We are residents of Mahavir Swami Krupa Housing Society later on named Paraskunj Society Part 2, repeatedly communicating with you on this issue.

The members started residing here way back in 1978 i.e. at-least 30 years back on memory lane. We have been paying all the taxes in time and still our requests on a burning issue of water clogging has been offered a deaf ear as always.

We have been presenting the facts and are complaining about the state of affair in this area. Once again we present facts, hoping some break through to achieve this time.

• Problems faced:

1. Water getting clogged shown by arrow in above diagram on the road and in side the society, as it is at a level lower than road level. Within half an hour of rain only this area gets water-clogged

2. Clogged water creating problems like

I. moist on walls resulting in lower strength of residences

II. loss of furniture and equipment

III. income loss as one can not move out of house in monsoon

IV. mosquitoes, insects and resultant illnesses

V. muddy water getting inside the house and ground floor becoming impossible to stay

VI. rain water collected in our compound, is coming out from toilets and chokdi.

VII. Many a persons have fallen victim of open gutters and electric shocks

VIII. Sick family members can not be availed quick transportation and so also medical facilities

• Water clogging and reasons:

I. Area it self being at a lower level

II. Road surfacing and resurfacing

III. Slope given at a specific point

IV. Manholes are: less, small, sealed, blocked, wrongly placed, difficult in operating, and at height

• Our complaints and progress as of now:

I. Manholes are blocked (due to road construction and purposefully both)

II. Manholes are difficult to open every time

III. Manholes are not sufficient in numbers

IV. Manholes are wrongly placed (water, if at all passes through houses by that time gets under water)

V. No storm water channel still made operational (though promised by one of the Officials)

VI. Manholes are at an extreme height (does not serve the purpose).

VII. Man holes are not good enough in size to drain out such volume of clogged water

VIII. Manholes are not being cleaned at regular intervals

IX. No one from administration has made a point to visit this place, till date.

X. Every monsoon we need to attempt draining out clogged water ourselves or we need to wait for fighter jets.

No progress has been made though no. of representations are made.

• Our expectations from you

I. Storm water channel

II. Bump before the end of kutcha road- enabling stoppage of rain water and avoiding accidents

III. More no. of strategically placed manholes

IV. Manholes and pipes sufficient in size to drain loads of rainwater swiftly

V. gutters with a metal body channel (generally used for under-bridges)

• Attachment: proofs of earlier communication

I. photographs showing clogged water and manholes (2 in numbers)

II. photocopies of earlier correspondence with you (dated 2/2/08, 6/8/08, 13/8/08, 1/1/09, 9/6/09 and11/6/09)

Please visit the site to understand and rectify the problem or call us to explain.

If the need be, we can provide you with signatures of residents of nearby societies as well.

We certainly believe with your sincere efforts, one month would be sufficient time to bring an end to this issue. We hope to enjoy troubled-water free monsoons and to be pleased Ahmedabadis,
