I and my wife have been living in Bangalore since 2009. We both are software techies. In Sep we have moved to a new house with 2 storied building where owner's family is residing in ground floor. The owner and his family treated us nicely until we moved into their house. From the second day of shifting, he started treating us in a different manner being impolite in his words. We were bound speechless when he said that they have plans of renovation in the floor where we are staying. Everytime he comes with a new story saying that they are planning to construct a room in the balcony and they want to extend our bedroom to the balcony and make it a separate room to rent it for bachelors. Another day he says they are planning to build duplex for the two floors. When we asked the owner why he didn't tell us before joining here, he said in a rude manner, "everything cannot be told to you earlier." We were really worried because we came to this house as we liked the free space in the front balcony of our house and also we don't want to stay in a house where construction is going on other side, as it gets really inconvenient to us. Had we known about this before, we wouldn't have opted for this house. They said they will let us know one month before starting the work. Before moving to the house, we requested them to provide some arrangements in the house. Like we asked them to put an exhaust fan in the kitchen as it has just one small window on top. And we asked for fixing poles on terrace for drying clothes. Also we asked to change the tap in the kitchen as it was leaking and also water doesn't flow properly. They promised us that they will take care of all these things before we enter the house itself. But they never did any of those we asked for. Every month when I go to give rent he gives some excuses for not having done those things. Like he was busy, he didn't find a right tap to fit it there, he didn't find labor and all. Finally In December, he gave us another shocking news that he wants to sell the house due to financial constraints. Now they have sold it for 72 lakhs and gave us 2 months notice to vacate the house. They didn’t even bother about our problems. We had lot of expenses for transportation (around 6000) and brokerage (1 month rent) while shifting to this house. Now we will have to bear these expenses once again and that also before completing the agreement period of 11 months. If they were polite to us all these days, we wouldn't have felt so sad to move to another house now. But they have hurt us with their behavior. Also he always used to be abit rude while speaking to us. Being a tenant doesn’t mean that we can be treated like anything as house owner wants. We understand that they have financial issue. But it is not fair to treat us so recklessly and for their cause they are troubling us now. So we have asked them to compensate brokerage to us. They denied and started fighting with us. We determined to stay there and deal this issue legally. We want to complain about their recklessness and impolite behavior towards us. They have also harassed us mentally.
We don't know whom should we complain this issue to and also who will help us in this regard. Please advice.
