Keeping money on account of "Non Refundable" dancing class fee

I introduced my husband to one of their dance class in Feb. They took the money for the 1 month class upfront Rs. 4000. We then realised we couldn't continue after that first class we attended. So we discussed this with their person Aamir and were told the money could be adjusted in a future class. Now, they say use 50% of that money in a class in the next 2 months! We know we can't make it to their class and their concept of money being "non-refundable" makes no sense to me since we communicated with them the very next day that we knew we can't continue. They haven't held a "spot" for us or anything like that, and they fill the class as it comes.

Its a dance class that we went to learn a form for. They're charging me Rs.4000 now for 3 dance steps and 1.5 hrs spent with them, one day?

I'm just asking them to be fair and respect what hard earned money is vs. cheating people into parting with their money forcefully like this.

Please help!
