We have been using the ration card to buy sugar for our family. We have been residents here, ward 152, Besant Nagar of Chennai since 2004. Our ration card no. is 02/W/0104358.
In May this year, when we went to buy sugar, we were told that some person had come home for verification and we were not present at the residence. We were asked to fill up a form with address and identity proof. We were given the sugar then. Again, in September we were told that some person had come for verification in August and informed them that we had shifted to some other area. We were refused sugar and asked to immediately go to Mylapore and file a form with address and identity proof yet again. We were told some person would be sent for verification in a week's time. We had submitted the details on 20th Sept and till date no one has come for verification. We have been told that we won't be given any ration supply till verfication is done and we get an intimation slip from them.
I would like to bring to your notice that there is no proof that any person has come for verification even in the earlier times. No note, no intimation to neighbours, no notice of any sort that people have come for verification. We are residents of this area for the last several years and to cancel our card unnecessarily is unreasonable and illogical. We are honest taxpayers being penalised for no fault of ours. Why should an existing ration card be cancelled when we have not gone anywhere out of station? When we went to submit our application, we found several others with the same problem.
