Dear Sir,

Myself N.K. Joshi, working on the post of Executive Engineer, PWD Rajasthan Jaipur. Being my faith in Nokia I purchased Nokia, N-97-Mini from Krazy Telecom, S-5, Jayanti Market, MI Road Jaipur on 26 May. From the very next day itself, it started giving problems of hanging, navigation not working properly etc. I contacted with store person but he did not response & simply transfer the matter to nokia cares. When I asked for demonstration regarding navigation etc. the store person asked me to reach his shop & every time no trained person was available there, I want to change the handset but store person Mr. Ram Babu Gupta refused & rather misbehaved with me.

Many a times the handset was giving problems as narrated below:-

1. In General Mode, many a times no bell ring sound heard while an incoming call, when looking towards the handset, there is no display of Answer & Reject buttons on the screen but simply flashing call symbol at top displays and the call could not be answered in that case. Similarly sometimes while an incoming call, the Answer & Reject keys are displayed on screen but could not response. Also sometimes the handset screen hang. In all these cases either switching off & on the handset or removing & inserting battery options were left to solve the problem. Moreover this problem may occur at any time & hence undersigned has to face a lot of problem because of not answering such calls especially from my Sr. officers (Viz CE PWD, SE PWD etc.). Not only this but by fading these problems I went at nokia care Gandhi Nagar Mod a few times but every times they do not entertained the problem by simply saying that all datas, contacts will be deleted & refused to take up back up on their own in the attached memory card.

One fine morning on 20.04. while my morning walk when I used cell phone for some call, I was surprised to see that the keyguard switch was missing. It might be fallen down somewhere. Therefore I decided to go to nokia care, A-17, Krishana Nagar, near Gandhi Nagar Speed Post office, Tonk road Jaipur. The nokia person told that the set was tempered/physically damaged & hence in the Job sheet the handset was shown as out of warranty (Job Sheet No. 108433527/110420/4 dated 20.04. time 10.51 PM). I request him to consider the handset in warranty as the same was produced at the service center with 1 year of its purchase & it was never tempered/physically damaged/liquid damaged but the switch was missed in its normal use itself & iterated that no one can damage his own set knowingly, why would someone do it? It is still in the warranty period, I asked them to provide the switch & to do needful software update but the I/C nokia care said that the ‘D’ part will be changed which costs around 4500/- to 5000/- & rather misbehaved me along with other mates. Thanks, to other customer sitting outside who came in my support, as the result the photocopy of Job Sheet was provided to me. At the last having no other option I compelled to take back my handset from the nokia care centre.

On the same day i.e. 20.04.2011 (6.15 PM) in the evening I visited nokia care franchise, opposite Sanjeevani Hospital, New Sanganer Road, Jaipur, here a token number 86* was given & again reported that there is liquid damage & physical damage & hence everything will be chargeable viz-IC Rs. 940/-. Software loading Rs. 540/- ‘D’ body Rs. 1800/-. Again all my requests & logics went in vain. Here I would like to draw your attention that one centre is charging Rs. 5000/- for keyguard switch (‘D’ body) & the other one is charging Rs. 1800/- for the same? What is this? Certainly there is something wrong with these nokia care centers at Jaipur. The centre in charge nokia care, New Sanganer Road said that there are four such centers at Jaipur, namely at Gandhi Nagar Mod, Raja Park, Shastri Nagar & this one (New Sanganer, Sodala) & you can try at any of the centers, you will be find the same reply & that is by hook & crook the set will be declared to be out of warranty with the help of certain hidden conditions (Liquid damage, Physical damage etc). It simply implies that there is no meaning of 1 year warranty from the date of purchase & rather customers are being cheated in this way which cannot be expected from a very-very reputed company like Nokia.

May I therefore call your attention to provide the keyguard switch & for needful software updates in my nokia handset at the earliest as undersigned has very much faith with this reputed company as earlier Battery BL-5C of my old set 7610 was also changed considering it dangerous with customers. If it has not been happened then I will lose faith with nokia & will be free to go to shelter of Consumer Court/Court of law.

In anticipation of better relationship, I hope that our faith in Nokia remains undaunted:-
