I got a coupon with BSNL broadband bill which told to ask for a free 3G sim. I went to the BSNL customer service branch (behind IIMB, Bangalore). They saw the coupon and provided me the sim card with the number 9482517934. They told that it would be activated within 24 hours. It was not activated for 2 days. When I went on the third day, they said that it would happen by 22nd, Aug since the free sim activation link has not been updated in the application that they use. When I went on 23rd and complained that the sim is not working, they told that they do not have any offer of free 3G sim card and returned my application. Further, they told if I want my sim to be activated, to pay Rs 180 to them. In my life, I always refrained using government services because they are slow and people are not helpful and money oriented. For the first time, I took BSNL broadband and was happy to see that services are good. With the experience of the 3G sim, I came to know that the customer service is 10000 lightyears back.
