Recharged for 148 (2GB) data recharge, amount still being deducted from the main balance

Got a 148 (2GB) data recharge on my phone. Amount still being deducted from the main balance. Called the customer care but they say that since you have done it in certain validity you wont get benefit of the Rs. 148 recharge. This is outwardly absurd. How am I being charged for a service that I didnt use. Kindly help me with the same.
