I have a broadband connection on my MTNL land line, just received a bill from MTNL for the for the month of February station broad band charges of over Rs 5000/-. I have been using this connection for over one & a half year and have never got a bill for broadband usage more than Rs 300/-. Met the concerned engineer at the Jogeshwari Exchange on level 2 and he logs into his system and tells me the usage has been made by you. I tried reasioning with him that i can see usage happening past Midnight & early morning where heavy downloads of over 500 MB happens. to this he says that it seems that you have downloaded. I told him that the modem & pc are off for days without being used and still there is Broadband down loads happening. I also told him that if i were to be downloading such heavy files would'nt I take an appropiate plan (plans for unlimited usage start from Rs 495/- per month), I am not a fool to unessairly pay such a high amount of Rs 5000/- when there is an option to pay Rs 500/- per month for similar usage.
I feel that the MTNL engineers are into a racket of misusing the customer accounts for high revenue gains
Please let me know if I can get some help and advice on what i should do next.
