ITBC (India Today Book Club)'s 60 Lakh Sweepstakes is a SCAM. I have been told on three different occasion that I have been awarded a prize money of Rs.6, 40, 200 and after TDS I am supposed to get Rs.6, 32, 700 subject to purchase of their products worth of Rs.13, 000 to Rs.14, 000 /- to block the position of number one in Sweepstakes. I was given an option to choose a model from different models of phone out of which I selected OMNI Pro b7310 @ Rs.13, 998.00 and I paid the amount through Credit Card. I too was told that a welcome telephone call shall come from the Vice President of India Today Book Club congratulating me on 31st March. And I am supposed to receive the money in the month of June'10.He also (name being Shreekant Mahajan) told me the cheque number being 612347 of HDFC Bank Ltd. which drawn and ready for me. First of all the product booked has not yet been delivered till writing this complaint although it was booked on 22.03.2010.
On the other hand I received a call from Mr. Sunny on 12.04.2010 confirming that I too am the first prize winner and supposed to get the awarded money subject to purchase of another item like Micro Oven, etc. Then I developed doubt and I asked the gentleman over phone that he should officially inform me about the 1st Prize in 60 Lakhs Sweepstakes. And in respond I meediately received a mail from ITBC confirming that I am eligible to get a minimum consolation prize of Rs.15, 000 /-.The mail is as follows "Dear Sir,
You are member Customer of ITBC, you has been selected for our yearly contest in sweepstakes 60 lakhs after blocking yourself the minimum consolation prize you will get is of Rs. 15000.00

From this it clearly indicates that ITBC is cheating people and playing an arm twisting tactis by attarcting innocent buyers of India and abroad showing 60 Lakhs Sweepstakes.
Please do take a serious note of it. Please make necessary investigation why such fraudulent practice is being adopted by ITBC to save innocent people from getting cheated further,
