Accordingly, at 05:33 AM (13th Aug) I dialed the number *0* as it was stated to be free. But surprisingly, as soon as the call ended (within 30 seconds, at the most) I received the service message intimating debit of call charge of Rs.0.75 (seventy five paise).
This voice message was nothing but an marketing call from Aircel value added service and I was deceived by the mention of "free call" to induce me to test a chargeable voice SMS. Hence, I have decided to take up the matter seriously to do something to prevent such service provider from deceiving people by feeding false & wrong information.
I also tried to complain at 198 which was connected at 05:38 AM, but the operator after listening raised vague arguments that you must be aware that a call of this nature is chargeable, etc. etc. On my insisting for a complaint token number, he told that he was unable to give a complaint number because his system has not been updated to verify my complaint and asked me to contact again only after 24 hours.
