All users of AIRTEL beware of the scam that AIRTEL is indulging in the prepaid segment. They are deducting more money per call than the scheme that you are in and if you don't check you are the loser. I am herewith attaching a copy of an email which I sent to them and the response which I received which is self explanatory.

I was stunned to see them charge me Re. 1.00 (rupee one) for a 16 seconds call, by chance, and then I realized this is how AIRTEL would be making their profits by cheating their customers. It is not the cost at Re. 1.00 but the principle involved in this dubious scam

With reference to your E-mail dated 15/9/10, you have expressed concern regarding the the balance deducted wrongly for your Airtel mobile number 9980465011.

We understand your concern and will work towards resolving the same.

We would like to inform you that, as per your plan the call charges are 0.50 paise for Airtel to Airtel.

Further, an amount of Re.1.00 has been deducted wrongly on 15/9/10 at 11:27am.

Hence am amount of Re.1.00 will be credited to your account within 4 hours as a one time benefit.

We would like to infrom you that, you may get the call details by the below mentioned procedure:

We request you to send a SMS to 121 (Toll free) in the below mentioned format to receive the itemized bill with Outgoing calls and messages details:

By Email: EPREBILL month email id

By Paper: PPREBILL month billing address

Further, we regret to inform you that, we are unable to provide the Incoming call details.

There will be a charge of Rs. 50/- for the bill (E-bill or Paper bill) and the same would be delivered within 09 working days in case of E-bill and within 07 working days in case of paper bill and the amount will be deducted from prepaid account after 1 day of giving request.

The Itemized bill can be processed with the details of the last six months bill and will get generated for the entire calendar month only. Please ensure that you maintain a minimum balance of Rs. 50/- to receive the bill.

Dear Sirs,

With reference to my mobile number 9980465011 I would like to bring to your

kind attention that I had made a call to Mobile Number 9481916471 at 11.27

today (on 15th September) for a duration of only 00.16 minutes (i.e. 16

seconds) and have been charged Re. 1.00 (Rupee one only) as charges when I am

on the 50p (A to A) and 60p (Airtel to others) scheme. How is this possible???

I have not been checking my earlier calls and how much deductions have been

made. Please check your records and let me know the correct charges which you

should have deducted for the recent period starting 06th September when I

had recharged under your transaction ID Nos: 392899917, 392905871 and

395279529. I need a detailed list of all charges made during this period to

convince myself that similar "overcharges" have not been made.

possible.
