During my stay with family in Bangalore, I had approached to a local travel agency “Chanakya Tours & Travels”, #35, Cottonpet Main road, Bangalore-560053 on 26.09.2011 to arrange 2AC railway tickets for 3 adults on or after 05.10.2011 in SBC-GHY express for returning from Bangalore to Guwahati. I also paid Rs. 2000 as advance to the agency. Although, I had access for online railway reservation through makemytrip.com but I could not make reservation as there was a technical fault in Indian Railways reservation system at that period. The Travel agency assured me confirmed reservation and asked me to take the tickets one day before journey. Accordingly, I had reported to the agency on 04.10.2011 but they showed their inability of arranging tickets. Instead, they arranged waitlisted 2AC tickets 2 hours before journey on 07.10.2011in 12246 Duronto express, PNR No. 4546357241, Transaction ID. 400494322 for journey from Yeshwantpur-Howrah, which got confirmed and 2AC waitlisted tickets on Tatkal reservation in 15657 Kanchanjanga express, PNR No. 6302034796, Transaction ID. 0400711966 for journey on 09.10.2011. I paid the travel agency Rs. 1700 extra as service charge other than fare of both the tickets as they assured me that both the tickets will be confirmed on the day of journey on their quota. The reservation in Kanchanjanga express was not confirmed and I could not board in the train on 09.10.2011 due to fully waitlisted ticket. I had arranged another ticket at Kolkata by using online reservation system for me & my family for journey on 11.10.2011 and reached Guwahati on 12.10.2011. As per the policy of Indian Railways reservation system, fare of fully waitlisted ticket is automatically refunded and the travel agency should have received Rs. 3444 as fare of refunded 2AC ticket of 3 adults for journey scheduled on 09.10.2011. But till date, the travel agency is not refunding the money. In spite of my repeated phone calls and informing them my bank A/C no, the Travel agency is not responding. Moreover, they charged me service charge of Rs. 1700 for booking both fully waitlisted tickets. The Travel agency had cheated us.
