Misleading information about rooms

I booked a superior double room in hotel de France however was given a big room with two single beds pushed together. I questioned the staff at reception to be told at first that there is no such thing as a proper double bed in the hotel with one mattress. Then we were given the option of moving to a tiny room with a one mattress double bed but for the same price as the superior double room. I find this completely unacceptable.
