Bombay Hospital is charging a surcharge - 20%!!! Is such high surcharge justifiable? (I am not sure about the surcharges prevailing in other hospitals).
I am writing this because I myself experienced this recently. My mom was admitted recently and the hospital charged 20% surcharge on the entire bill amount. Over and above, this surcharge was not eligible for reimbursement / cashless from the insurance company as this was classified as "Non Medical" expense.
Is this justifiable? Even after the hospital charging for all the services rendered, i.e. Doctor charges, nurse charges, Room charges, operation theater charges, etc.
I am unable to find much information on surcharge on the internet. I will appreciate if someone can throw more light on this issue.
