Sir,
I had applied for a home loan, but application was rejected as my name is found to be a defaulter in the CIBIL.
I had two credit cards during 2000 to 2004. I am working in an National Non Government Organisation working for the poorest of poor, downtrodden and marginalised people all over India regardless of caste, creed & colour. I was out of station during Bihar, West Bengal & Assam Flood Relief Operation for around 4 months. As a result I was unable to get my statement etc due to lack of communication as I was in remote areas. On returning back I found that I had become a defaulter. Then one day year I do not remember as it was few years back, one Mr. Mullick a agent from Standard Chartered Bank, NS Bose Rd, Kol, 1 came to me and ask for payment of Rs. 1500/&-amp; that very moment i had only Rs. 600/- so I gave it to him and he did not issue me a receipt for the same, infact he told me he will come tomorrow to collect the balance and then issue the same. The next day came and he did not turned up. After one month he came and demanded more money, when i asked him about the Rs. 600/- he told me point blank that he used it to have tea and nasta. So I refused to pay him. He got furious and started holding my shirt and treathen me. Which I file a police case against him. Then he stopped coming. After a few months another agent came Mr. Haldar who would collect payment reqularly without any problems. Then one day I had given him Rs. 1500/- but it did not reflect in my statement as a result I was penalised. When he came the following month, i told him the matter and showed him my statement, he said he will look into the matter so I gave him that month payment. The following month statement showed Rs. 1500/- of the month, but the latter month was still missing. Then he told me that by mistake he had written the last digit of my credit card wrongly. So he said he will look into the matter and as such nothing came of it as he left and another agent name Mr. Narayan started coming. I was busy with the Flood Relief Programmes that i had no time to report or see the bank except i would phone but got no response.
Now Mr. Naryan came to me during Durga Puja's and collect twice Rs. 1500/- i.e. Rs. 3000/-. but this too was not reflected on the statement. When he returned to collect payment. I refused to pay and then I wrote to the Head Office who replied to me saying to contact NS Road Branch, but i got no response. When Mr. Narayan came again i threathen him and told him that I will not pay, so he promised to repay Rs. 3000/- by his own cheque, which he did. But unfortunately in my statement the cheques had bounced and i was penalised every more higher and became a defaulter. Then I phoned the bank and i refused any further payment if this was not settled. But no response came from the bank. Then around nearly 1 year 7 months i got no call, no statement, no body came regarding any payment. All of a sudden in Feb/ Mar the bank work up and started asking me to pay my outstanding due. So I again refused and told them "what you were all sleeping and now just worken up" first settle my previous amount then I will see to the rest. But the insisted me to pay what they wanted. So I replied to them saying that I will have no option but to file a case as I had all my receipt etc.
The bank then told me why go to court etc, lets have a mutal understanding and settle this case. So they suggested for me to pay Rs. 20, 000/- within 3/4 months and they will write off the other amount and close the chapter. So I did what they wanted and now i have a letter from them saying nil balance and verbally said the other is written off.
Now I applied for home loan and was rejected as I found my name as a defaulter. So I request you sir, to please remove my name from the CIBIL list so that I may avail loan as it is becoming terrible to live in rented houses paying a huge rent and shifting every 11 months. Sir please do me a favour to clear my name as now there is no outstanding dues and i have no credit cards.
Hoping to hear from you favourable.
