Bajaj Complaint number 11736537/11736895
Hi,
I have an insurance policy with you. I had an accident on June 13th where in there was damage to the bumper
and I was getting noise due to misalignment of the door. Nandi Toyota mentioned that it will cost 8000 for
repairs and I hence decided to claim via insurance. The Claim was registered on 15th June and subsequently preapproved.
Now during the payment, I heard from your bangalore office that they found out from my previous insurance company (Reliance) about a
prior claim last year and I still have claimed NCB with Bajaj for this year. This according to your office is misrepresentation and hence they said they cannot
pay. I have paid and taken the car out by paying Rs. 22500 from Nandi Toyota.
I agree this is a misrepresentation on our part. It happened because, my wife who has been brought up in the US had renewed the policy while I was away
from an agent and she signed the papers and renewed without understanding full consequences of this.
The Bangalore office claims that because of misrepresentation, this claim will not be paid and future claims will be paid only if I pay the NCB discount.
I am willing to pay the NCB discount. However, I do not agree with the punishment for the following reasons:
1. There was no check done on whether the NCB is valid at the time of renewal. The agent was anxious to change the insurance from Reliance and did whatever it
took to change.
2. There was no check done during preapproval on NCB claims. So Is it not a misrepresentation on Bajaj Allianz's part providing me pre approval. I would have opted
out and repaired the car for 8000 and not spent 22500.
3. Based on what the Bajaj allianz personnel (Damodaran) spoke, I have absolutely no insurance coverage despite paying a premium. 8 months of premium I have
paid without any coverage. Shouldn't Bajaj pay me back the money paid on premium, since there was no coverage provided?
4. Your office claims, I would have been illegal without insurance despite no coverage. What would have happened if there was serious loss of life and I did not have money
to take care of it becasue of my misrepresentation. Does it mean, because of negligence on Bajaj to do the due diligence, you have supported me to be illegal i.e insurance
without coverage.
5. I have two instances where the same situation has happened - one with Royal Sundaram and other with Reliance wherein they have just deducted the NCB bonus and paid
the rest. Why is Bajaj's policy different than the rest of your competitors?
I have already lodged two complaints and they are slow to respond.
Regards,
Govind
