Company has put policy under Lapsed status, though i made regular premium payment

I am holding policy No 000869340, since January and premium paid as per details here under.

According to me my policy is in force, since i made all premium payment. But on 21.10.2009 company has sent letter Ref No 000869340 stating amount is refunded due to policy Lapsed.and send me cheque of Rs.10642.50 drawn on Citi Bank Mumbai, Vide Cheq No 054436 dated 21.10.2009 .which i have not encashed so far.

i am pressuming there is a need to take appropriate action against the company for mental harassment and agony with compensation.

Kindly look into matter and do the needful.
