I was issued a card with number 4346771007094866.from HDFC Bank. I had complained to the Customer Care immediately on the receipt of the card but they urged me to keep the card as it has already been issued & it was a Lifetime Free Card with no Annual Charges. I did not use the card even once since the time the card was issued to me; this can be tracked from the transaction on the mentioned card number. But later I was charged Annual Charges on the card which I had contested with your bank. After some time the late payment charges were added on the amount due every month even though the case was under review with your bank. I was given a Final Settlement offer last time through your letter dated 21 August since I wanted to settle the issue from once & for all I agreed to pay the Final Settlement amount of Rs. 3000/- vide cheque no 834464 dated 27th June to one r. Prabhakar (Collection Executive) who had informed me the Final Settlement Letter will be sent to me by courier with in a week.
I destroyed the said card & sent it to your Chennai Office by Registered Post, a copy of the letter & Post Receipt is attached for your reference. I did not follow-up with the bank regarding the said letter as I was occupied with my job. Now again I have been issued a Invitation for Conciliation Offer letter through Mr. S. Vaidhya (Advocate) dated 07th November 09 with a Final Settlement amount of Rs. 6585.27/-. This I feel is harassment on part of your bank & I seek your urgent intervention & action with reference to the same.
• I was urged by your customer service executive to keep the card as it was Life Time Free.
• I never used the Credit card & still I was charged Annual Charges without even asking me whether I would like to continue the card.
• Even though I have paid the Final Settlement amount as a prudent customer I was not issued any Final Settlement Letter.
• The bank knows that there has been not even a single transaction on the Credit Card still you continued to levy the charges even though it was issued as a Life Time Free card which amounts harassment.
I request you to kindly look in to the matter at your end also & help me resolve the issue in an amicable manner as I feel harassed by bank for no fault of mine.
