Refusal to Close Saving Account

I was holding one credit card which expired some years back and didnot receive the renewed credit card. I have a saving Bank account with HDFC, MARGAO branch, GOA.

Thereafter despite several reminders to the bank I have still not received the card. I don't remember the year. Now I went to close this account and the bank tells me that they want the credit card number, and refuse to accept my application. Now if I have not received the card from where will I produce the number.

I don't expect such a poor service from HDFC who treat their customers with great care.
