If you have paid the premium and now feel that you are not keen on taking this insurance policy you can send an email asking for refund.
If you have not paid from your pocket and the insurance premium has been added to the home loan then you may ask HDFC to reduce the loan amount.
HDFC may still insist on taking the insurance which is recommended. But, you can just opt for the hlpp which is ideal for covering your loan.
Even the HLPP premium may be added to your loan amount.
Please quote the following when writing :-
# loan account number or loan file no. - LOAN ACCOUNT NUMBER / FILE NO.
# policy no. - POLICY NO. / / if you have already received the POLICY CERTIFICATE
# write the words - withdraw / surrender / refund / cancel - in your letter.
# WITHDRAWAL / CANCELLATION of the INSURANCE POLICY
# instead OPT for H L P P - home loan protection plan (OPTING INSTEAD).
# you have taken the decision yourself and not as per other's advice.
# IF YOU MENTION THAT YOU HAVE BEEN INFLUENCED OR INFORMED BY ANY OTHER THIRD PERSON THE COMPANY MAY NOT ENTERTAIN YOUR REQUEST .
# IT IS YOUR OWN DECISION AND NOT AS PER A THIRD PARTY'S INFLUENCE OR ADVISE .
# PLEASE DO NOT MENTION ANY PARTICULAR NAMES IN THE COMPLAIN
# MAKE THE COMPLAINT AGAINST THE COMPANY IN GENERAL
# THE COMPANY DOES NOT BOTHER ABOUT FIRING A SMALL EMPLOYEE BY MAKING HIM A SCAPEGOAT
# IT IS EASY TO PUNISH THE EMPLOYEE, THE COMPANY JUST WASHES ITS HANDS SAYING IT DID NOT KNOW THAT THE EMPLOYEE HAS DONE MIS - SELLING
# WHEN THE CITIBANK FRAUD CAME INTO THE NEWS, WHEN ONE OF THE INVESTOR LODGED AN FIR IT WAS AGAINST THE CEO AND TOP OFFICIALS OF CITIBANK.
