Stealing of money by AIRTEL - Unsolicited Phone calls, SMS, caller tunes

Dear Sir / Madam,

I am an AIRTEL prepaid consumer (#9892287003) and I am being repeteadly harassed by AIRTEL co. lately as follows:

1. On 22nd Dec '09 AIRTEL installed a caller tune on my cell which stated in a country accent that I have been caught by the police and he needs money to be paid. This caller tune was heard by my friends and my parents who thought it is real. My parents panicked and were about to approach the police station that I returned back my parents call saying that I could not answer them since I was driving and that I am ok.

THIS IS A CHILDISH PRANK BEING PLAYED BY AIRTEL CAUSING GREIVANCE TO MY NEAR AND DEAR ONES.

2. On 23rd Dec '09 I approached the Vashi AIRTEL centre in Sec - 17 and wanted to speak to the manager regarding point no.1, that I was asked to dial #999 since managers of AIRTEL can be only accessed by phone and not in person. I spoke to one Mr. Ravindra Pandurang Jadav of #358 AIRTEL who blatantly mentioned that AIRTEL has installed the caller tune since I have instructed AIRTEL to do so. COULD AIRTEL SAY WHO IS THE LIAR HERE - Mr. Jadav or AIRTEL?

3. Mr. Jadav then mentioned that if I didnt want the caller tune he would cancel it and also return back my money. I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY A CONSUMER WOULD PAY FOR INSTALLING INSANE AIRTEL CALLER TUNES AND CAUSE GREIVANCE TO NEAR AND DEAR ONES. At this instance I felt AIRTEL was not only causing greivance to me, but also STEALING my prepaid money in this process.

4. I got the caller tune uninstalled, Mr. Jadhav said he would return back my money. I have not checked, since my trust on AIRTEL services has completely vanished by now. Only on mentioning Mr. Jadhav of Consumer Complaint that he gave me a reference no. W1015307495 against stopping of SMS, ads and promotional calls from 1:37pm of 23rd Dec onward. DOES AIRTEL CO. FUNCTION ONLY WHEN MENTION OF CONSUMER COMPLAINT IS DONE?

5. On returning home the same day, I received a barge of SMS from 57272, 543212, 530309, 54321, 543212, 543211 and unsolicited calls from 02261541368, 9987072735 and others. I waited for a few days and the same continued. IS AIRTEL NO LONGER A PROFESSIONAL SERVICE TO RELY ON?

6. I tried calling AIRTEL through their service no. 121 and requested to speak to the manager. AIRTEL call centre person disconnected my call! I tried speaking to AIRTEL through this no. again and I was denied to speak! AIRTEL CALLER SERVICE DOES NOT FUNCTION ANYMORE?

7. AIRTEL harrassment continues till date through SMS, ad / promotional calls, installing of caller tunes, jokes etc. for which I again returned back to the vashi AIRTEL for speaking to the manager that I was asked to dial #999 and speak over phone. ARE AIRTEL MANAGERS NOT ACCESSIBLE TO CONSUMERS THAT THEY HIDE BEHIND WIRES AND PHONES?

8. Relentling not to speak to anyone else other than the manager, I was given the line to one Mr. Taranveer Singh who said he is the Supervisor in Malad. I asked him why is AIRTEL harassing me when Mr. Jadhav had mentioned that AIRTEL's prank services will be called off from 23rd Dec '09. He replied that my complaint against the reference no. in point 4 will be effective from 6th Feb '10 as per TRAI directives! CAN AIRTEL MENTION WHO IS PLAYING THE MONKEY BUSINESS?

9. STEALING of my prepaid money still continues on date through promotional calls, jokes etc. As per my discussions with Mr. Jadhav and Mr. Singh, I understand I activate the service on answering such calls.

CAN AIRTEL EXPLAIN HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN AIRTEL PROMOTIONAL CALL AND NORMAL BUSINESS CALLS?

10. Also I find that AIRTEL steals my money when I answer their promotional calls as each call I answer, AIRTEL takes away Rs.1.5 from me. WHY IS AIRTEL STEALING MY MONEY?

I will shift to a different service provider shortly untill my remaining balance ends.

I would like AIRTEL to return back my money for:

1. Stealing my money on unsolicited AIRTEL calls, SMS, caller tunes and jokes

2. Causing greivance to my near and dear ones.

3. Harassing me by unwanted calls

4. Harassing me by their services who contradict each other (pls refer points 4 & 8)

5. Wasting my time

6. Disturbing me and my work

7. Unwanted visits to AIRTEL office and burning of fossil fuel

I look forward to your kind attention in the above and your advice please.
