Maintenance charge for the period when a/c was not opened

I have opened a saving a/c linked demat a/c with indus ind bank, ajmer. My a/c No. is 0129-U14294-001.They have charged me RS. 44 Against maintenance charges for the period of 1 Dec. to 31 Dec..But my demat account was opened on 11-1-12 .So how can they charge for the month of Dec, 11.When i met the officer of indusind bank (Miss shalini sangel), ajmer for this deduction they told me that they have calender like that. And she also told that you can fire your complaint anywhere.
