IRCTC server down - Request for full refund

Hello Madam/Sir,

I booked a ticket in III AC to travel on September 22 by Konark express. On the early hours of Septermber 22, I planned to cancel my ticket which is on status W/L 2. As the IRCTC server was down on that day, I contacted the IRCTC customer care and informed the same and requested them to cancel my ticket. On their advice, I sent a mail to etickets@irctc.co.in to cancel my ticket and refund the full amount for the follwing reasons.

* The server was down since morning, which did not allow me to cancel my e-ticket

* I have sent a mail to etickets@irctc.co.in around 12 noon to cancel my ticket, at which time my ticket was still on Wait List status

But, my ticket was not cancelled by the IRCRC authorities. So, I had to file a TDR and mentioning the same reasons. At the same time, I followed up with IRCTC customer care via mails and calls. They assured to look into it and the needful and provided me a Reference no. 1873645.

But, today on Septemer 30, I got the refund of Rs. 332/- for not travelling. As my ticket was on W/L status at the time my request for cancelltion, I would have got my full amount if the IRCTC server was working. Why should I incur the loss when the IRCTC server was down.
