Complete Refund Denied

Hi,

I had booked an international round-trip flight and made a complete payment of the airfare qouted. The airline has now cancelled this flight. I was offered the choice of travelling the next day, but I declined it as it is not convenient for me.

I have asked for my money to be refunded. However, I am now being told that a complete refund is not possible as there would be a deduction of the cancellation fee.

If the airline cancels/ reschedules a flight, why am I being asked to pay a cancellation fee? It is not something that the airline is responsible for? How do I claim my entire refund?
