Lose of goods through courie

Dear Sir,

We had booked a courier from Chunree, 5/2, kapoor building, J.P road, Andheri west through

Mr. Ramji Bhai-Midway courier, J.p road, Andheri west. Mob:9323223567 .The courier worth 3195/-Rs was lost in transit by the latter. On asking for compensation, we were not even given satisfactory answers and the contrary were delt with rudely and abusively. So Please advice me how to proceed further so that I can get my goods back or the compensation. Can I go forward with a Police complain?
