Hi,
I have DELL Inspiron 1420 with the defective NVIDIA graphic card 8400. The good news is that Dell have acknowledged the defect in your laptop and that can be found here:-

I purchased on Aug 26th. It failed on April 21st 2011. Not When I called Dell customer care, they are telling that they cant replace it.. But DELL has supplied defective card, at least they should inform us with mails or phone. They dint do anything and now when I ask, they are not providing the right help.
Please let me know what to do.
