Charging heavily on service demand

We have purchased a water purifier from Aquagaurd on 18.12.2009.for Rs.13, 000.00.It was called for service several times in the warranty period of one year. The machine again became problematic in Jan 13th month of purchase ie one month after warranty was over. The company people visited and gave an estimate of Rs.10, 000. I lodged complaint to the Aqugaurd Head office and recd. a call by stating that the estimate will be Rs. 7000.00. Can anybody believe that a product of Rs. 13, 000.00 will be repaired by paying Rs.7000.00 just one month after the warranty is over. We can take it in other way that the product is designed in such a manner that it will produce 60% of its cost towards the company. Is this a trick played by a reputed company like Aquagaurd?
