My Croma brand AC, less than two years old, caught fire at 2 am on Friday, 16 March. The whole unit was totally burnt and the freon and oil inside caused heavy smoke and dust. Luckily the fire didnt reach the bed and wardrobe or there could have been damage to life as well.
As bad as this is, what followed in my interaction with Croma CustomerDisservice was worse. I impressed upon them that this was serious, that they probably need to look into safety issues in their products-only to get the standard reply-somebody will call you by 2pm. Nobody did, so I called back and was assured that somebody would call- after a few hours, someone from the Mulund store called to say that a technician, if available, would visit.
Nobody has come so far.
People at Croma seem to be treating such a serious issue very casually. They need to check if there are safety issues with their ACs (just like their Nanos), to avoid further mishaps. Meanwhile other Croma AC users out there-beware.
