Have to introduce myself as the unlucky owner of a IFB washing machine.

We have been facing frequent breakdowns and major issues with the machine immediately after we bought it.

To make sure the machine was repaired by authorised people ONLY, we entered into a AMC with the IFB franchisees

in Chennai. Its only then we realised that the franchisee promptness only related to collection of the AMC cheques.

Calls made to their call centres always gave us dates & times which were never honoured. Secondly, evertime they

came over they started preparing bills apparently for items which were not covered under the AMC.

In the instant case, our machine broke down in end jan and we were calling the call centre everyday. Unfortunately

no technician came in and after many more calls to their Chennai office someone finally came on the 16th of Feb.

The local office of IFB or its franchisee is headed by one Mr Shiva who is the most irresponsible person I have

come ever across. Either he is trying to single handedly close the IFB company or ensure that its goodwill is

permanently lost. His appointment also surprised me as how a company with the IFB tag could have appointed such a callous, irresponsible person as its head.

What is also surprising, the technician after examining the machine proudly claimed that a paricular part was broken and not covered under the AMC (his usual tactic to start preparing a 4 digit invoice). When he was shown

that the particular part had broken down earlier a year or so back and was covered individually under warranty,

he immediatley tried to shy away saying that it was not a IFB authorisd franchisee. When he was shown the warranty

he surprisingly did a volte face, and said that the part was only dirty and merely had to be cleaned. After cleaning the part seemed to work properly and the washing machine appears to be ok

What is shocking is the attitude of the IFB franchisees to ensure that the customer is forced to pay a substantial sum even after entering into a AMC contract with the company authorised people. We feel cheated and and let down

by the attitude of the company. Their anxiety to purposely replace components (which need not be replaced) will given the company a bad name. On the other hand the local authorised service stations or their personnel will sell the components to other customers and do illegal trading at the company's expense.

Nevertheless, we have been very disspapointed wiht the way things have shaped out for us with IFB company.
