Mudnur Hospital
Impropriety by Doctors

My wife 05 months pregnant had sever pain in lower abdomen (she has history of kidney stones) and was taken to 'Mudnur Hospital in Bijapur' and was admitted there on 23 Jun 10. The following improperness were observed during treatment.

(a) My wife was referred to a radiologist for ultra-sonography and was diagnosed for having kidney stones one of which having entered bladder was creating pain. The same night, the resident doctor (owner of the hospital) conducted another sonography test in his own hospital. during this, he run the sonographer even over the upper parts of back.

Was it necessary to conduct a sonography despite of having got done it by a professional and is it necessary that sonograph be run over upper parts of the back when the diagnosis has already been done as kidney stones.

(b) My wife was detained at hospital against her wish on the night of admission and was not administered any medicine or any fluids. Saying that we did not understand the risk and he knew it.

(c) The next day my was prescribed fluids and some other medicines. The Hospital staff did not administer any thing till 11 am i.e till their Hospital's own medical shop opened and they forced my wife's mother to buy all the medicines from the hospital's own medical shop.

(d) The doctor charged consultation fee for every visit to patient's ward even though he himself was the resident doctor and owner of the hospital.

(e) Being pregnant, my wife had got all sorts of blood tests and she showed it to the Doctor. Still the doctor insisted on all tests including Blood group and HIV (without prior permission or information)

(f) According to my wife the staff were very unpleasant and rude. Overall behavior of the Doctor and his staff was as if the patients had no value and what valued the most was money.

(g) No bill or receipt was given for the charges of the Doctor and money was taken just based on the numbers scribble on a small piece of paper.

Although the list runs very long, the above one were glaring. Can anybody tell me as to what action can I initiate against this doctor.
