Airtel Broadband Cancellation

Hi

I am Ananth Prabhu. I used to have a Airtel Broadband Internet Phone connection at my old address in Ghatkopar Mumbai. I had to shift to a new address in Mumbai In the first week of July and since the Customer service executive told me that it would take 2 weeks for a connection movement - i took a new connection at my new address.

I also requested that my old connection be canceled in Mid July. I provided the customer care executive my new address to arrange for the old modem / telephone pickup etc. I even received a Pro rata bill in July and hence i assumed that the connection had been canceled.

However, 2 months later around end of September / Start of October - I started getting harassed for payment of pending dues on this Phone / Internet connection. I explained them that I had requested cancellation long ago and that I had taken a new airtel connection again. I was told that - since I had taken a new airtel connection - all i needed to do was provide with the new number and the cancellation would take effect. This happened atleast 10 times from the start of October to November end.

Even after this I kept getting further calls - and at the end I got fed up and called up the 121 service number. The customer service executive explained - that the Airtel customer service system had undergone an upgrade in July end / August start and hence my 'in-flight' cancellation request might have got lost. He then took a new cancellation request and put in the full story behind my case.

Soon, after I got a compromise call from some Customer service executive who asked me to pay up Rs. 1, 894 for August. I explained about the pro-rata bill in July. I was told that she would talk to her supervisor and get back to me - which never happened.

Since then - the service charge has gone up to 7.5k Rupees - for a connection I haven't used - which I had requested cancellation on time.

Even though I have raised multiple complains about the same and even tried mailing [email protected] - I haven't gotten a satisfactory reply / explanation on why my connection wasn't canceled and as to why I received a pro-rata bill in July - if i hadn't requested for a cancellation. Even if i were to assume that the initial cancellation didn't go through - even after talking to 20 (or probably more) customer service executives since September - none of them cared to make sure that the connection would get canceled - while I complained about the wrong billing / cancellation etc.

The only wrong thing I did here was that I didn't keep the cancellation number from July - since I assumed that Airtel would ethically proceed with my cancellation request.

I am now being completely HARASSED for 7.5K for no mistake of mine.
