Egarding speed of the internet

I'm using airtel broadband of 512 kbps nearly 1 1/2 years and i'm not satisfied with the speed given by the airtel... the downloading speed should be around 100 kbps something but i'm geeting only 40 kbps... please give me solution for this matter, broadband speed which i'm using is just like a dial up connection...
