Bajaj/XCD125
Poor Mileage and bad servicing

This is Siddhartha, a software engineer by profession based out of Bangalore. Last March I Had purchased a bike (XCD 125) from one of the Khivraj Bajaj showrooms in Bangalore. Since the purchase the bike has undergone 3 services as recommended in the instruction booklet. The strangest thing is right from the time of purchase my mileage has never exceeded 40/45 km a litre and sometimes even lower than that. Moreover after the last service I've been getting around 33/35kmpl. I can understand that driving in the city with constant gear changes and frequent halts affects the mileage. But the question is by how much? During the initial period I was told by the showroom guys that before the 1st servicing the mileage would vary somewhere between 45-55 km and that after the 3rd servicing it would give me atleast 70km irrespective of the driving conditions and even more on highways. I did everything that was recommended in the instruction booklet, things like not exceeding the speed of 40kmph for the 1st 500 km/first servicing, taking it to regular services as and when specified in the book, yet to no avail. The TV advertisements for this product shows that this bike is capable of delivering 109 km/ltr (with a little ‘ * ’ which says ‘under ideal test condition’, whatever that is). Forget about 109 I’m not even getting half of that. Can you please send me an explanation for this?
