Dear Consumer Forum,
Caravan Packers and movers have totally destroyed a lot of our household goods. Many things are broken and damaged. They charge for transport, Packing and Unpacking. There was no proper unpacking done and no proper packing done for which I have already paid. Apart from this I had also paid for a Rs 2 Lakh insurance but despite of my writing the following complaint to them I only recieved a complaint no. No final bill is also recieved despite of several follow ups.
I am attaching the written complaint sent by me as there is no revert from there end and request a complete money back on my packing/unpacking and insurance for the goods damaged.

As we were getting transferred from Alibaug to Pune I contacted Caravan Packers and movers. I should have understood at the moment of initial contact itself that this is a great disappointment. I had to call up at least 5 times to receive a quote. The contact person was Arvind Tripathi.
* I didn't ask for any discount or anything and booked the dates of Packing of 14th and 15th April with Mr Tripathi. I asked for a written conf which was told to me that is not required
* On Monday I called up to inform Mr Tripathi that I also require insurance (which he again said is not required and why I want to waste my money. But I insisted that I require at least insurance of Rs 2 lakh. I was charged Rs 4000/- for it which I agreed to) and to my amazement this gentlemen does not recognise me or my no and says that e can only start packing on Wednesday and two days are required for packing. I told im that money doesn't matter as my company is paying, I need the truck to leave by 5 pm on 15th April. I was given long stories that you are dealing with a professional organization and our team packs containers.etc
* Now Mr Tripati asks me to pay 100% advance before packing which I refuse and say please tell me the reason. I can give 50 percent advance but not 100 percent as I need to see things happening before I pay all te amount, with a lot of argument. I am using the word ARGUMENT and when I say I will rather not pack with you he agrees.
* I call him up again and ask that how many people will come for packing and I am told 7 people, the truck arrives on time with only 4 people
* The packing starts-The crockery is packed in newspaper borrowed from me, no bubble paper packing.
* I am getting upset and asking your team to pack the breakable items and expensive items properly and they are arguing and asking me how these are made
* Workers are sitting on the bed and packing
* A lot lot and lot of breakage
* Lamps are broken, paintings are broken, crockery is broken.
* There is no double packing on the furniture, all my furniture is scratched and spoiled
* A table made of clay which was the first thing we bought for our house was just kept without packing and is totally destroyed, it has a lot of sentimental value for me.
* Things were just dumped. Glass table tops without packing with cloths
* Marble table broken, marble table top dumped with show pieces which destroyed everything
* Your supervisor was more interested in speaking over the phone, was on himself removing our charger and your team was using the toilet.
* THE TRUCK LEFT AT 2230 HRS.
* The truck reaches Pune and my husband asks them to down load and they ask for full payment first.
* I called Mr Tripathi and said that our deal was 50 percent payment after the complete delivery and this gentlemen say KYA HUA MADAM DE DO NA, now you have to speak to the pune office. BUT MY DEALING WAS WITH CARAVAN.
* My husband paid the remaining 11000/- and kept 1000/- balance.
* Again the team of people who came to unpack were 4 out of which 3 were local daily laborer who did not know what they were doing and we kept on hearing that how am I going to unpack all alone
* I have a 18000/- wort double bed mattress of Raha which cannot be folded, despite my screaming the laborers got is folded in the elevator AND IT IS TOTALLY DESTROYED
* We gave the balance 1000/- and Octoroi amount Rs 300/- to your person who was not ready to give us the Octoroi slip which I finally took. And on verification realised that octoroi is Rs 100/- only
I feel totally cheated hiring Caravan Packers. I am working with an International 5 star hotel as a Deputy General Manager and My husband as a Director of uman Resources. My husband had asked me to get the packing done by Agarwal Packers which we always use as the company pays all our expense but I thought let me try another company and made the biggest mistake of my life. I did insurance but for WHAT? Being a hotelier I totally understand how things are packed, insured and delivered and realized my grave mistake of thinking Caravan is capable.
I need to understand what is happening with insurance, when is some going to come and replace my stuff. I want a total reimbursement as I AM EXTREMELY UPSET.Let me know if there is someone who is bothered or the company is like this beacuse I will not leave it here. For the harassment, Loss of money and effort, for the first time feeling that these guys are misbehaving as my husband is not here... I will not leave it here
I also spoke to some one called Vicky/Vikas the day the packing was taking place and told him how upset I was but as expected no one bothered to contact me. DEAR TRIPATI WAS NOT AVAILABLE.Let me also UPDATE YOU THAT YOUR PEOPLE ASKED FOR TIPS MAKING ME PITY THEM THAT HOW THE COMPANY IS, THIS WORK IS FOR AT LEAST 6 PEOPLE AND THEY HAVE SENT 4
