This is actually not specifically against Celebrity Kids alone- i would like to draw the general public's attention to the industry in general. I have worked with more than 1 photographer in recent times who has committed this 'fraud' as i believe it is such.
the other photographer's name is Bankim (can't remember his last name) and i know for a fact that the famous prem studio in Kamla Nagar, Delhi is also a culprit.
all these big shots in the photography business who undertake projects for weddings and similar other themes, use digital photography equipment and then refuse to (either explicitly or implicitly through their actions) refuse to give you the original raw photographs. the reason is simple- if you go to a regular lab, a print will cost you 5-10 rupees, whereas they charge you hundreds of rupees. it's holding you hostage.
at my recent photoshoot (for my 8 month old) at celebrity kids, they first outrightly refused and when i insisted they offered me the full res versions for 1000 rupees each. this is despite the fact that i was paying for the prints and still not getting the full res versions.
i'm not a lawyer but i strongly believe this is a. extortion, b. violation of my rights as a consumer and c. IPR law violation. the service i am paying for is photography. ideally once i make the payment, i should have unconditional right to access to those photographs. surely there is something that can be done. a PIL is in order.
