I recently applied for a personal loan from Standard Chartered and the bank rejected my application. The reason given to me was that the CIBIL report indicated that there was an outstanding amount of Rs.139000 approx on a credit card (Sept - August) which was written off in 2002.
1. The report furnished by CIBIL does not have details of the credit card nor the bank issuing the credit card.
2. I never used a credit card in that period. In fact, I availed loans from IDBI, Standard Chartered between 2006 and 2009 and my repayment history is immaculate.
If CIBIL is not willing to give me further clarifications on this outstanding amount, I am ready to drag them to court.
