City Furniture may provide the worst customer service on the planet. I purchased an inexpensive ($100) headboard as a cheap solution for a property we are renting in S. Florida. I drove nearly 2 hours to pickup the headboard at their warehouse on a Friday night. They gave me the incorrect pieces (2 boxes they admit being mis-labeled 1 of 2 and 2 of 2). I told them I should not be inconvenienced by their mistake. They disagreed. They refused to correct the mistake saying that I should repeat the drive to their warehouse so they are inconvenienced ZERO, regardless of their mistake. I've spoken to the store manager and the customer service manager who were equally abysmal at accountability and good customer service. I will never buy anything from these guys again. The store manager mentioned that it was "bad business" to deliver something that was only $100 in the first place. He asserted that every deliver costs them $100. I told him that information was incorrect and he debated that he was "absolutely" correct. Let's do the math. Let's assume they are starting from another delivery within 5 minutes of my home (their store is less than 10 minutes away). That's 5 minutes x 2 drivers x $15/ loaded hr per driver. Those trucks get around 5-7 miles to the gallon @ $3.25/gallon for diesel fuel. Assuming they spend 5 minutes making the drop that's $5.00 for labor and $3.25 for fuel. The variable cost for them to correct their mistake is $8.25 & for a $100 list price sale they probably made $50 (probably more actually). So for less than $10 they've forfeited a customer for life and risked an embarrassing publication of these facts. These guys are the dumbest business people I've ever encountered.
