ATM TRANSACTION ERROR

Dear Sir,

I have used my Corporation bank SB Account's ATM card at ATM of Bank of India at Aurangabad to withdraw an amount of Rs.4300/- on 08/11. I have not received the money or slip from the ATM. But my card has come out automatically. After that I have checked the balance and surprised to see that the transaction is made as withdrawal and my account is debited.

I have noted the problem in the complaint register at ATM of Bank of India. Since it was on sunday, next day I have contacted Bank of India ATM at the evening and to check the status. Since money is not recredited to my account on next day (Tuesday) I have given a written complaint to Corporation Bank with a copy to Bank of India. While talking over phone Corporation Bank told me to contact Bank of India and Bank of India was telling to give complaint at Corporation bank. Any way Corporation Bank has accepted my written complaint. But till today 19/11/09 I have not received any response from Corporation Bank or no money is credited to my account.

I appreciate the Bank of India because when I have sent a mail to them they have forwarded the complaint to concerned department at Pune. And today Bank of India, Pune office has called me and conveyed me that this complaint has to be solved by Corporation Bank itself. Anyway I appreciate them because they have atleast given call to me or responded my complaint.

But my SB account branch or bank has not contacted me or responded me and reversed the money till today as 12 days is over.

For last few days I am mentally upset becasue no money with me to fulfil the requirement of my family.

I expect a speedy reversal of the amount. Is any law is there for compensation for the ATM error?

I am giving below the complaint given to the Corporation bank.

Dear Sir,

I have tried to withdraw Rs.4300/- on yesterday (08/11) at 5.14 pm from Bank of India ATM situated at Ulka Nagari, Garkheda, Aurangabad, Maharashtra. After punching my ATM pin No. and the amount (Rs.4300/-), as usual the message shown as “The transaction is being done”. But after waiting for some time the card only came out automatically and no money or slip is received.

Immediately I called the Security man and he told me to put a note in the complaint registration book kept in the ATM. In front of the security I have checked again for balance and for my shock it was found the Rs.4300/- withdrawn and balance is only Rs.23/- whereas I have not received cash physically from the ATM.

The above transaction is not physically happened. As per the security guard I have mentioned in their complaint register. He has told me that the money will be automatically reversed in my account within 24 hours.

I hereby request you to look into this matter and arrange to reverse the amount credited to my account at your earliest.

A copy of this letter is being handed over to the Aurangabad branch today.
