Bad Room provided - no compensation

We opted for a package offered by Country Inn & Suites, Katra, Jammu & Kashmir, India. We probably had better suggestions and cheaper options but we chose on Country Inn thinking that being a well known four star property we would get good service and good value for the money spent.

The Package Offered comprised :

Welcome drink on arrival

Accommodation in a deluxe room

Half body massage during the stay

Free use recreation facilities like Pool table, Table tennis, Badminton, Home theatre and Swimming pool

Fruit basket, Cookies and chocolates in room

Two bottles of mineral water

Daily Continental breakfast & one major meal at the Maple-our multi cuisine vegetarian restaurant.

20% discount on laundry

Courtesy coach between Hotel-Banganga-Hotel

Transfers by an individual Non-AC car from Jammu Airport/Station (to & fro)

All present applicable taxes

What we did not get:

No Welcome Drink on Arrival

No Fruit Basket, Cookies and Choclate in our room.

We checked in about 6.30 pm in the evening... After check-in What we got is: -

1. A very delayed dinner served up with a limited choice menu. There was just 1 server in the restaurant attending to about 7-8 tables and thus couldnt do any justice to anyone. We felt ignored and were served our dinner as if we are on some discounted package and hence have to settle for whatever and whenever it is served to us.

2. The telephone instrument in the room was faulty and wouldnt connect if we need assistance. So someone came and changed the instrument.

3. In the room when I tried to shower that night the water was not hot. When I complained someone apologised and said that we will get hot water in the tap after some time. I was told the temperature was turned down and had now been turned up and that I could get hot water after about twenty to thirty minutes - so we chose to go for dinner instead - what happened in the restaurant is already pointed out above.

4. Too tired from travel and the delayed dinner we hit the bed straight. It was only when we used the bathroom the next morning that we realised how cheated we were even on the room -

A room with an unchecked untested horrible bathroom with leakage and choked drains. We did not realise this when we checked into the room at first. The bath tub drain was choked and the water wouldnt drain through.

5. The spray tube was attached on the left side (the wong side) of the kamod and started dripping on the first usage. The pipe of the spay was stiff and unusable. We are surprised how a so called FOUR STAR category served up the guests wit such a faulty bathroom with wrongly attached sprays, stiff pipes, leaking pipes, choked wash basins and choked bath tubs and improperly working hot water boilers.

6. We complained to the Gen Mgr directly and made him see the state of the bathroom - he pulled up his housekeeping team. However we as guests were the sufferers and had to go through horrible ordeal of using such a bathroom after a exhausting 30 km trek to Vaishnodevi.

7. At the time of check out we expected an appropriate compensation for a bad room allottment - however that did not come forth to our satisfaction.

We would like to record our dissatisfaction and greivance on record and expect an appropriate compensation from Country Inn for our gross inconvenience during our stay in their hotel.
