To,

Dawn Academy School,

Panchgani.

Respected Sir,

I had admitted my son Rehan R Contractor, in your school, Class V, for the academic year 2010.There are certain points which I would like to bring to the notice of your institution.

a) On 20th June I left my son to school at 9.40 am. At around 10.15 am, one person known to me informed me that, he saw my son on some body’s mobike going towards the market. It was unbelievable but then to, to confirm I went and inquired at the school gate and was shocked to know that my son was told to go home. I panicked home and didn’t find him there. Rushed to my hotel and pulled down the shutters and went on a rampage hunt for my son along with my staff workers. I called up my wife at Sanjeevan Vidhlaya (teaching there) to inquire if he has come there to her. She too got panicky and worried and started crying. Later on around 10.30 am my son came back to my Restaurant. He was crying and scared. After pacifying him I asked him what happened and he told me that he was sent home on Naushad Sirs instructions for not wearing colored, full- pants. He went home walking and after finding the house locked, used his little brains and took a lift from some unknown person, but that person didn’t stop near my hotel in the market and instead took him ahead and when my son started crying loudly he dropped him some where near ahead of Apsara hotel and went off.

What ever may be the reason (full pants or half pants or any thing else: How can the school authorities be so careless, so irresponsible and ruthless to just tell a small “Ten” year old boy to go back home, with out informing his Parents? God may not forbid my son would have met with a serious road accident or may be kidnapped or got lost or got scared and run away some where. Who could replace this? The school authorities or Mr. Naushad? My wife is under medication for blood pressure and brain pressure and god may not forbid some thing serious would happen to her on hearing the news of her ten year old son being lost? Who would be responsible for this?

b) Also my son was complaining that his science teacher was hitting him with a cane- like stick on his palms, shoulders, and calves and also slapping him across his face. Just the school had begun and already my son had developed a fear in going to school, saying that they beat me there very badly. We asked him that- was he the only one beaten up like this? He said no, many children in his class are being beaten up in the same way. I, made it a point to personally meet two-three boys of the school and asked them and they said “Yes”, that’s the normal beating process over here. My God, how can this serious crime be committed on these small children for such petty matters like home work not complete or untidy work or etc.

Earlier after these two instances I went twice to meet Mr. Naushad, but since he was busy I returned back and then on Monday 29th along with my wife, took an appointment in the office and met Mr. Naushad.

Minutes of our meeting with Mr. Naushad:

1. We told him that our son had been sent out of school, on your instructions, without informing us and the panic and trauma that we had to undergo due to that.

We were SHOCKED by the justification given by Mr. Naushad, who holds a senior post of an administrator of that institution. He bluntly told us that –What if you send your son to school and he doesn’t reach the school and goes some where else.

2. Regarding the beating he told us that –these are my rules and not yours. You have your rules at your Restaurant and I have my rules here.

3. He told us that, in the beginning of the year we have problems then its better that we withdraw our son from the school and fetch admission some where else.

4. He also told us, “do what you want” and this is our system and our rules and its better that we withdraw our son from his institution.

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS?

a) Had some thing happened to our son

b) For the panic, mental painful trauma that we had to undergo by the irresponsible act from the school for sending my son home on his own, with out informing us.

c) For bluntly saying that these are the rules of the institution and its better we withdraw the admission of our son from the school.

d) The fright that has developed in our sons mind from the painful beatings that he has received.

e) How and where do we go searching for admissions in schools, when practically one month has passed schools being started?

f) What if we don’t get admission in the choice of schools we desire and he has to study some where forcefully as we being left with no options and choice.

g) What if his one year goes waste with out getting admission.

WHY DO WE HAVE TO UNDER GO ALL THIS FOR NO FAULT OF OURS?

a) Is it not our duty to come and talk to the concerned administrator of the institution regarding the irresponsible act done from the school in sending our son home without informing us?

b) Is it a sin to discuss and look in to the matter and solve the problem of my son being beaten up in class for petty matters?

c) Isn’t it our right, being parents to come and talk and discuss the problems of our son with the concerned administrator of the institution?

d) Do we being Parents and our son studying in that institution, deserve such un-justifying and blunt answers for no fault of ours.

e) Instead of looking in to the matter and our complaints and problems, do we deserve to be told to withdraw the admission of our son and fetch another school?

f) Does the administrator hold a right to make his own rules and overlook the rules that our Indian constitution has passed and one has to abide by it, whoever so it may be. Does the administrator of the institution wants to suppress us and express to us that these are his “so called rules” and he doesn’t care and value the rules and regulations laid down by the Indian Govt (with whose license the school is running with, and has to follow certain terms and conditions laid down by the Education dept.)

g) Does this Institution want to express the same motto of the Taliban’s?

I rightfully deserve an explanation and answer to my above mentioned questions and the behavior of your esteemed school towards, me and my son.

Regards,

Rizwan Contracto
